Transitioning to a BioRender Institutional or Enterprise license

Have you been offered Premium access through your school, department or organization and have you already made the switch?......wonderful! This transition can come with some important changes, but it can also bring significant benefits. To ensure this is a smooth transition, we'll walk you through what happens when you make the move and what you can expect.

Benefits of Premium access through an organization

Switching to an organization's license provides access to BioRender Premium features without needing a personal subscription.

Depending on your organization's license, you may:

  • Gain Premium access at no additional cost
  • Receive Premium access at a discounted rate

Managing your existing subscription

When you transition to an larger license:

  • Your personal subscription can be canceled
  • You will no longer be billed for the personal plan

To cancel your personal Premium subscription:

  1. Contact BioRender Support for assistance.
  2. Our team will confirm the cancellation.
  3. We will issue a refund for any overlapping subscription charges.

What happens to your files

Your illustration files remain safe and intact during the transition if your existing account is added to the larger license.

Key file transition points:

  • If your account is added to the larger license, no file loss will occur.
  • If you need to update your email to match your organizations credentials, follow the steps in this support article.
  • Changing your email inside the app does not affect your files.

Important: If you sign up for your organization's license as a new user instead of adding your existing account, your pre-existing files will not be carried over. We highly recommend linking your current account to your institutional license.
