Starting your BioRender subscription early

If you’d like to start your BioRender subscription before the end of your 14-day free trial, you have two options: upgrading through Plan & Billing or exporting an illustration with a Publication License. Follow the steps below to activate your subscription early and gain full Premium access.

Option 1: Upgrade through Plan & Billing

To manually start your subscription early:

  1. Click on your name in the top-right corner of the BioRender app.
  2. Select "Edit profile & settings" from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click "Plan & Billing" section in the left column.
  4. Click "Start Plan Now", a green link found in a light blue box under Your Plan.
  5. In the pop-up window, click "Start Plan Now" again to confirm. This will:
    • End your trial period immediately.
    • Charge the default credit card on file.
    • Activate the subscription type and billing cycle you selected when starting your free trial.

Option 2: Exporting an illustration with a publication license

You can also start your subscription early by attempting to download a publication license while exporting an illustration.

Steps to activate subscription via export:

  1. When exporting an illustration on a Trial plan, a pop-up window will appear stating that publication licenses are not available for download during the Free Trial.
  2. In this pop-up window:
    • Check the box next to "I would like a publication license with this export" in the light blue section titled Publication Permissions.
    • Click the "Export" button at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  3. Click "Start Plan Now" on the next page.
  4. Click "Start Plan Now" again on the following page.
  5. After confirming Start Plan Now a second time, the app will process your payment and activate your subscription.
