How to downgrade from a Lab or Team subscription to a Single User in BioRender

If you are the admin of a Lab or Team plan and no longer require group-level access you can choose to downgrade your group plan to a Single User plan. 

Please not that cancelling your Lab subscription is effective until the end of the billing cycle (no immediate cancellations mid-cycle).

How to downgrade from a group to single user plan:

  1. Log in to your BioRender account.
  2. Click your name in the top-right corner and select "Admin" from the dropdown menu.
  3. Navigate to the "Plan & Billing" tab.
  4. Click the "Manage Plan" button (this appears only for active, paid subscriptions).
  5. Select "Continue and cancel plan" to begin the cancellation process.
  6. When prompted, provide feedback on your experience (optional).
  7. Click the red "Cancel Subscription" button at the bottom of the screen to confirm.
  8. 💡  Premium features for you and your group will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

What to expect after downgrading

Colleagues on the Lab plan who are not on individual subscriptions will lose access to:

  • More than their 5 most recent files
  • Ability to export with publication licenses
  • Shared folder capabilities (e.g., editing others' files, adding collaborators, renaming folders, and moving files)

Users with active individual plans will maintain full access to their own files and publication permissions.

Transitioning your Lab to an Institutional or Enterprise license

If you are transitioning your Lab plan to an Institutional or Enterprise plan and there will be an overlap in subscriptions, please reach out to our Support team to review your setup and avoid disruptions.
