Login issues: Check your computer's clock settings (unauthorized or oops..error messages)

If you're experiencing trouble logging into BioRender and receive an "Unauthorized" or "Oops, something went wrong" error message, it may be due to a mismatch in your computer’s clock settings, which can interfere with token validation and authentication.

Why this happens

Login systems use secure tokens with time-based validations. If your computer's internal clock is significantly out of sync with the correct time, BioRender may reject the token due to invalid timestamps.

How to fix it

Please follow these steps to verify and correct your clock settings:

  1. Check your local time: Visit https://time.is to see the current local time for your region.
  2. Compare your device’s clock: Look at your computer's system clock and see if the time matches exactly with what is shown on [time.is].
  3. Adjust your clock settings (if needed)
    • Mac:Go to System Settings > General > Date & Time and toggle "Set time and date automatically" to ON.
    • Windows:Go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time and enable "Set time automatically".
  4. Try logging into BioRender again: After updating the clock settings, refresh your browser and attempt to log in.

Why automatic time is important

Enabling automatic time sync ensures your system clock stays accurate, which is critical for secure login processes and system-wide token validation.
