If you’re experiencing lag while using BioRender, it may be due to outdated browser versions, Mac operating systems, or brush sizes.
Common causes of lag
You may experience lag in BioRender due to:
- Outdated Google Chrome versions (anything older than version 91).
- Older Mac operating systems that are not updated to the latest version.
- Large brush sizes that exceed the recommended limits.
Checking your browser and operating system
To check your Google Chrome version:
- Click "Chrome" in the top left-hand menu.
- Select "About Google Chrome".
- Your current version will be displayed under the "Settings tab".
To check your Mac OS version:
- Click the "Apple" icon in the top left corner of your screen.
- Select "About This Mac:.
- Your current OS version will be displayed under the "Overview tab".
How to fix lag in BioRender
1. Update your software
- Update Google Chrome to the latest version, then restart your browser.
- Update your Mac OS to the latest available version.
2. Optimize brush usage
- Reduce the size of your brush, especially if it is 4x larger than the canvas.
- Break up large brushes into smaller ones to prevent lag.
