Transfer the ownership of an account

In collaborative work, sometimes you need to pass on your account to a new team member or take control of someone else's. These steps make it easy for a smooth transition.

 

If you are the current account owner:

If you are transitioning out of your current institution or position, you may be interested in transferring your account or files to another individual.

To complete this transfer, please follow the steps outlined in the option that best reflects your situation:

  1. The person taking over your account does not have an existing BioRender account

    a. Begin by updating the email address associated with your account to one they have access to.

    b. Contact our Support Team (support@biorender.com) from the email address associated with your BioRender account to submit an account name change request. Please outline the reason for this request and ensure that the individual taking over is CC’d on the email. 
  2. The person taking over your account has an existing BioRender account

    The best action would be to send copies of your files to their account. If you are also looking to transfer your premium license, please contact our Support Team to process this change.

If you are not the account owner:

If you are an individual taking over an account and the original owner has already left, please follow the steps outlined in the option that best reflects your situation:

  1. The account's email has been updated, and your goal now is to change the account name

    Please have the original account owner contact our Support Team (support@biorender.com) from the email address initially associated with their BioRender account to confirm this change. Please ensure that you are CC’d on the email. Once we receive their confirmation, we can update the account name.

  2. No account changes have been made yet

    If the original account owner still has access to the account, please follow the steps outlined above in 1a & b.
For security purposes, we cannot make any account changes without receiving confirmation from the original owner.

If the original account owner has left the institution or team and cannot be contacted, please reach out to our Support Team with your request and we will determine the best solution for your case.
