How to unblock the BioRender for PowerPoint Add-in for your organization

If you or any of your colleagues are seeing the PowerPoint error message "Microsoft 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition and execution of Office Store add-ins," then this means that access has been blocked by your company's Microsoft 365 Admin.

The Microsoft 365 Admin at your organization can follow either of the options below for enabling the BioRender PowerPoint Add-in for their end-users, while maintaining Admin Control over the add-in. The end result will be that the BioRender add-in will appear in PowerPoint under "Admin Managed" add-ins and will be available to the Admin approved Microsoft 365 groups.

Method 1: Install BioRender from the Microsoft App Store

If you have access to a Microsoft Admin account, you can install the BioRender add-in directly from the Microsoft App Store.

Quick Access: For quick access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, use this link.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

    • Log in to your Microsoft 365 Admin account.
    • Navigate to the Settings > Integrated apps > Add-ins page.
  2. Deploy the Add-in:
    • Select Deploy add-in at the top of the page and click Next.
  3. Determine Centralized Deployment Feasibility, and then Click Next:
    • In the Admin Center, explore if Centralized Deployment of add-ins is available.
    • If Integrated Apps is available, use it to manage your add-ins.
    • If Integrated Apps is not available, proceed with Centralized Deployment.
  4. Select Choose from the Store and search for BioRender. You can view available add-ins by categories: Suggested for you, Rating, or Name.
  5. Select Users:
    • After selecting the BioRender Aadd-in, a pop up will appear where you can specify who the add-in should be deployed to: Everyone, Specific users/groups, or Just me.
    • With the Office Store option, updates and enhancements are automatically deployed to users.
  6. Deploy the add-in:
    • Click Deploy to finalize the installation. A green checkmark will appear when the add-in is successfully deployed.
    • Users may need to restart Microsoft 365 to see the add-in icon on the app ribbon.
    • If you've deployed to just yourself, you can select Change who has access to add-in to deploy to more users.
  7. Announce the Deployment:

    • Inform users and groups about the availability of the new add-in. Consider sending an email with instructions on how to use the add-in, along with links to help content.
