How to remove PowerPoint pop-ups after uninstalling the BioRender Add-in

Even after uninstalling the BioRender Add-in from PowerPoint, you may still see pop-up messages if a presentation was previously linked to the Add-in. This does not mean the Add-in is still active globally; it simply means the presentation file contains a reference to it.

The steps below will help you remove these references and prevent further interruptions.

Steps to remove the PowerPoint pop-up

Remove inactive Add-ins from PowerPoint

  1. Open PowerPoint.

  2. Click "File" > "Options" > "Add-ins".

  3. At the bottom of the window, next to "Manage", select "COM Add-ins" and click "Go".

  4. If "BioRender" (or any unfamiliar Add-in) appears, uncheck it and click "Remove".

  5. Click "OK" and restart PowerPoint.

Check for active Add-ins in your presentation

  1. Open the presentation where the pop-up appears (or open a blank one).

  2. Click "Insert" > "My Add-ins".

  3. If "BioRender" is listed, select it and click "Remove".

Delete residual Add-in files from your system

  1. Close PowerPoint completely.

  2. Open File Explorer and paste the following into the address bar:
    shell:appdata\Microsoft\AddIns

  3. Press "Enter" and delete any BioRender-related files from this folder.

Repair your Microsoft Office installation (if needed)

  1. Open "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features".

  2. Select "Microsoft Office", then click "Modify" or "Change".

  3. Choose "Quick Repair" and follow the prompts.

  4. Restart PowerPoint once the repair is complete.
