Even after uninstalling the BioRender Add-in from PowerPoint, you may still see pop-up messages if a presentation was previously linked to the Add-in. This does not mean the Add-in is still active globally; it simply means the presentation file contains a reference to it.
The steps below will help you remove these references and prevent further interruptions.
Steps to remove the PowerPoint pop-up
Remove inactive Add-ins from PowerPoint
-
Open PowerPoint.
-
Click "File" > "Options" > "Add-ins".
-
At the bottom of the window, next to "Manage", select "COM Add-ins" and click "Go".
-
If "BioRender" (or any unfamiliar Add-in) appears, uncheck it and click "Remove".
-
Click "OK" and restart PowerPoint.
Check for active Add-ins in your presentation
-
Open the presentation where the pop-up appears (or open a blank one).
-
Click "Insert" > "My Add-ins".
-
If "BioRender" is listed, select it and click "Remove".
Delete residual Add-in files from your system
-
Close PowerPoint completely.
-
Open File Explorer and paste the following into the address bar:
shell:appdata\Microsoft\AddIns
-
Press "Enter" and delete any BioRender-related files from this folder.
Repair your Microsoft Office installation (if needed)
-
Open "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features".
-
Select "Microsoft Office", then click "Modify" or "Change".
-
Choose "Quick Repair" and follow the prompts.
-
Restart PowerPoint once the repair is complete.
