How to use the BioRender copy to PowerPoint feature

The BioRender ‘Copy to PowerPoint’ feature allows you to seamlessly transfer your figures into PowerPoint presentations using the BioRender for PowerPoint Add-in. This guide walks you through the installation process, step-by-step usage, additional features, and compatibility details.

Before using the ‘Copy to PowerPoint’ feature, ensure that:

  • The BioRender for PowerPoint Add-in is installed, by using this link
  • You are using a compatible version of PowerPoint (see Compatibility Information below).

Step-by-step guide

Follow these steps to copy and paste your BioRender figures into PowerPoint:

  1. Open your BioRender illustration.
  2. Click "Copy to PowerPoint".

    3. Open PowerPoint and navigate to the desired slide.

    4. Use "Ctrl+V (Windows)" or "Command+V (Mac)" to paste your figure.

Additional features

Once your figure is in PowerPoint, you can:

  • Edit in BioRender – Click this option to open the illustration in BioRender and make modifications.
  • Update Image – Refresh the pasted figure to reflect any edits made in BioRender.

  • Adjust Background – Set your figure’s background to transparent if needed.
  • Share with Colleagues – Use the collaboration link feature to easily share your PowerPoint presentation

Compatibility information

The BioRender PowerPoint Add-in is optimized for:

Office on Windows: Version 2208 (Build 15601.20230) or higher.

Office on Mac: Version 16.64.804.0 or higher.

Office on the Web: Supported, but with limited functionality.

Important: The PowerPoint add-in is not compatible with LTSC versions of PowerPoint. For the best experience, we recommend using Office on Windows or Mac.


Notes for BioRender Basic users

If you are using BioRender Basic (Free Plan) you will be limited to two file updates per month when using the add-in.

Frequently asked questions

The ‘Copy to PowerPoint’ button is missing. What should I do?

  • Ensure that your PowerPoint add-in is installed and up to date. Try refreshing your browser or restarting PowerPoint.

My pasted image isn’t updating. How can I fix this?

  • Click “Update Image” to sync the latest changes from BioRender. Ensure you haven’t reached the two file updates per month limit if using BioRender Basic.

Why isn’t the add-in working with my version of PowerPoint?

  • Check the Compatibility Information section above to confirm if your version is supported.
