How to edit your public figure page in BioRender

Customize and manage your public figure page in BioRender to ensure accurate representation of your research and improve discoverability. You can update the title, description, and publication link, and control public or private visibility settings from multiple access points.

You can access and edit your public figure page using one of the following methods:

From your email confirmation

  1. After exporting your figure, check your inbox for a confirmation email titled "Your Publication License is Ready - Now Let's Maximize Your Impact"
  2. Click the "View and edit public figure page" button in the email.

  3. You will be redirected to your figure page where you can click "Edit settings and details".

  4. Update the title, description, or publication link.
  5. Use the dropdown to adjust the visibility setting (e.g., "Anyone with the link can view").

  6. Click "Publish updates" to save changes.

From the unique figure URL

  1. Copy the public figure URL provided in your citation or publication license.

  2. Paste the URL into your browser to access the figure page.
  3. Click "Edit settings and details" to make edits.
  4. Enter a new title, optional description, and publication link.
  5. Modify viewing permissions as needed.
  6. Click "Publish updates" to save.

From the publication license PDF

  1. Open the publication license PDF you downloaded after exporting your figure.
  2. Locate the public figure URL (e.g., "https://BioRender.com/xyz").

  3. Click or copy this link into your browser.
  4. Click "Edit figure permissions and details" from the banner at the top of the page.
  5. Make any necessary edits and click "Publish updates."

Frequently asked questions

I can’t find the confirmation email.

Check your spam or promotions folder. Search for the subject line "You've just downloaded your publication license!" If not found, re-export your figure to trigger a new email.

You do not have permission to edit this figure.

Ensure you are logged into the correct BioRender account used during export. Only the exporting user has editing rights.

My figure is not showing publicly after setting to public.

Double-check that you clicked "Publish updates" after changing visibility settings.
