Need to customize a visual element in your BioRender figure? You can creatively "erase" parts of lines, shapes, or icons by layering objects, using the crop tool, and grouping.

How to remove part of a line

To visually remove part of a line in your figure:

  1. Insert a line from the top menu.
  2. Add a shape with the same background color (usually white) to cover the part of the line you want to remove.
  3. Group the line and shape together so they stay aligned as one element.

This approach simulates erasing while preserving the editable structure of your line.

How to remove part of a shape

To hide or remove part of a shape:

  1. Insert the base shape from the top bar.
  2. Overlay a second shape (with the background color) on the section you want to hide.
  3. Group both shapes to lock the composition together.

This method lets you customize shapes without altering their core structure.

How to remove part of an icon

Use the crop tool to isolate or trim sections of an icon.

  1. Select the icon you want to edit.
  2. Use one of the crop options (square, circle, or custom) to remove unwanted areas.
