📝 Note: This article reflects the classic BioRender canvas. For guidance on the updated experience, check out our article on the new canvas to explore key features and updates in the latest version.
This feature gives you precise control over how objects are resized or repositioned—without disrupting their alignment on the canvas. This is especially useful when working with complex figures that require adjusting individual elements while preserving layout integrity.
Learn how to use independent transformations, including percentage-based resizing for added precision.
Use independent transformations
- Select the objects you wish to transform.
- You can right-click an object and choose "Select all same" to quickly select a group.
- Alternatively, hold the Shift key and click or drag across the objects you want to transform.
- Specify the desired dimensions and units for the selected object(s).
- The objects will adjust their size or position accordingly while maintaining their X and Y coordinates on the canvas.
Apply percentage-based adjustments
Prefer working with percentages? BioRender lets you fine-tune object sizes using percentage values.
- Select an individual object or a group as described above.
- Click on the "Transform" button located on the upper toolbar.
- Choose "Units" and select "Percent".
- Enter your desired percentage (e.g., 90%) to resize proportionally.
- The object or group will resize while remaining in its original location.
