Superscripts and subscripts are frequently used in scientific illustrations for chemical and mathematical formulas, annotations, and footnotes. BioRender allows you to easily apply these formats to your text using the properties panel.
The superscript option is shown on the left, and the subscript option is shown on the right in the image below.
Step-by-step: Add Superscripts or Subscripts
1. Select your text
- Click on the text box that contains the word, letter, or number you want to format.
- Highlight the specific character(s) to be changed into a superscript or subscript.
2. Apply Superscript or Subscript
- In the properties panel on the right-hand side:
- Click the superscript icon to raise the selected text.
- Click the subscript icon to lower the selected text.
3. Revert to Normal Text
- To remove formatting, simply click the superscript or subscript icon again.
