Grey lines around images in PDF export

If you open a BioRender PDF export directly in your browser, you may notice grey lines appearing around images in your illustration. This issue is specific to certain PDF viewers and does not affect printed copies.

Why does this happen?

This issue occurs due to rendering differences in specific PDF viewers, particularly Google Chrome and Adobe PDF Viewer. These viewers may display grey lines around images, but the lines do not actually exist in the file itself.

Recommended solutions

To view your illustration without grey lines, try the following alternatives:

  1. Open the PDF using your device’s default PDF viewer
  2. Use an alternative browser such as Safari or Firefox to view the file
  3. Print the file to check that no grey lines appear in the printed copy
