In the realm of scientific illustration, precision and clarity play important roles in conveying complex information effectively. One powerful tool at your disposal is the strategic use of shapes. Adding and editing shapes to your canvas is easy with BioRender.
Adding shapes to the canvas

Click "Insert Shape" in the top toolbar.

Browse the shape options and select the one you want.

Click anywhere on the canvas, then drag to size your shape as needed.
Editing shape properties
After placing your shape, you can customize:

Color
-
Text
-
Size
To do this:

Click on the shape.

Use the Properties Panel on the left to adjust its appearance.
Note: Some advanced editing features like color gradients are available for Premium users only 👑.
Adding text to your shape
To add text inside a shape:

Insert a text box from the toolbar.

Move the text box into your shape.
-
Adjust the text size and position as needed.
Tip: Using a separate text box gives you more flexibility to move and format your label.
