BioRender’s default illustration canvas length exports up to 42.55 cm (16.75 inches), which is ideal for digital use and publications. This can be exported from the Poster Builder.
For large-format printing, such as conference posters, you can create a custom illustration canvas for more flexible design control.

How to change the size of your poster in Poster Builder
To adjust your poster dimensions directly in the Poster Builder:
Click "Poster settings" at the top of the Poster Builder editor.
Under the "Size" section, enter your custom "Width" and "Height" values in inches.

Confirm that the height is between "0.9375 and 96 inches".
If the value is outside this range, you’ll see the message: "Height must be between 0.9375 and 96 in. Resetting to current dimension values."
Adjust the "Section Margin" and "Content Margin" fields as needed.
The canvas will automatically resize to your new dimensions.
This is the recommended method if you're already using the Poster Builder and want to scale the layout without starting over.
How to design a large-format poster (custom canvas method)
For full design flexibility beyond the Poster Builder:
Click "New Illustration" from your BioRender Gallery.
Select "Custom Canvas Size".
Click "Create" to open a new, blank canvas.
Enter your desired dimensions (e.g., "91.4 x 121.9 cm" or "36 x 48 inches").
Open your original illustration in a separate tab.
Copy and paste content from the original into the new canvas.
Alternatively, export the full illustration as an image and import it into the new canvas.
Adjust spacing, layout, and design elements as needed.
This approach is ideal when you want full creative control over layout and design.
