Now you have entered your data, create your Graph and make precise graph edits including labels, scales, spacing, groupings, and colors with real-time previews so you can get the exact end result you want.

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how you can modify various elements without needing to recreate it.

From a new graph

  1. From a dataset on the Data tab, click Create new graph.
  2. This takes you to the Graph editing page.
  3. Select your graph type (e.g., bar chart, column chart, scatter plot, mean/median line).
  4. Assign your variables - the graph preview updates in real time as you fill in each field.
  5. Once the preview looks right, click Continue.

Access a previous graphing file

To begin customizing your graph, choose your graph within the Graph tab on the top of the Graphing page.

Customization options

You can customize:

Data appearance options

  1. Click on "Customize graph" in the upper right hand corner of the Graph tab.
  2. Then click directly on the area of your graph you want to edit (e.g., on the data). This opens the Data Appearance Options menu.

3. From this menu, you can:

  • Change the color palette and border color
  • Adjust border width and corner radius
  • Modify the spacing between groups, within groups, and the graph margin

Axis customization

  1. Click on the x-axis or y-axis to open the axis customization menu.
  2. Adjust the axis line and label formatting.
  3. For continuous (numerical) axes, you can modify the scale by:
    • Manually entering minimum and maximum values
    • Using the plus/minus buttons for incremental changes

Reorder groups along a categorical axis

You can reorder groups along a categorical axis without re-sorting your underlying dataset.

To reorder groups:

  1. Click the category axis to open the axis panel.
  2. Use the Sort by control to choose a sort method:
    • Original - keeps the default order
    • Alphabetical - sorts A to Z or Z to A
    • By value (median) - sorts by median value, ascending or descending
    • Custom - opens a drag-and-drop modal to set your own order
  3. Each sort option includes an ascending/descending toggle.

Using Custom order:

  • Drag rows in the modal to reorder them.
  • Use Flip order or Reset order for quick adjustments.
  • Each row also has up/down buttons for keyboard or single-pointer navigation.

💡 Note: Drag-and-drop reordering only works inside the modal. You cannot drag groups directly on the graph itself. Adding or removing a category in the middle of a custom order can shift other groups. End-appends and renames are safe. A quick re-drag in the modal fixes any shifts.

Legend customization

  1. Click on the legend.
  2. Open the Legend Customization Menu dropdown, where you can:
    • Adjust the position (left, right, top, bottom)
    • Change text orientation and size
    • Modify spacing

Title & Axis Title customization

  1. Click on the title or any of the axis titles to open the customization menu.
  2. You can:
    • Toggle the title on or off
    • Set text styles
    • Adjust font, size, spacing, and color

How to display an analysis

Once you’ve run an analysis, you can display it on your graph. For ANOVAs, this applies only if pairwise comparisons (e.g., Tukey test) have been selected.

  1. After running an analysis, a new section appears in the graph panel listing all analyses you’ve run on this graph.
  2. Expand the analysis to see all pairwise contrasts.
  3. By default, significant comparisons are pre-selected and automatically displayed on your graph.
  4. Check or uncheck individual comparisons to show or hide them, including non-significant ones.

Customizing how analyses are displayed

Click on any significance line or bracket on your graph to open the appearance menu. From here you can:

  • Switch between asterisk (∗) and p-value display
  • Modify bracket style, font, and line size
  • Adjust spacing and positioning

💡 Tip: You can run multiple analyses on the same graph and use the checkboxes to control which results are shown - useful for comparing different test approaches.
