In our ongoing efforts to maximize impact, the Creative team is now focusing on systematic expansions rather than individual requests. This approach allows us to provide comprehensive and impactful resources, ensuring better support for your research needs.
Please note that fulfillment of icon requests is not guaranteed and depends on factors such as currently prioritized subject matter, the volume of requests, and the complexity of the requests. All icons requested through the custom icon request form are added to the public library by default for all BioRender users to access and use in their illustrations.
Icon request categories
Icon requests are divided into three categories:
- Simple Icons - Basic shapes or symbols with minimal detail.
- Intermediate Icons - More detailed illustrations, often with multiple components.
- Complex Icons - Highly intricate illustrations with advanced shading, textures, or unique compositions.

Request limits by plan
Below is a breakdown of how many custom icons you can request per billing cycle based on your plan:

Private icon requests
Private icon requests grant exclusive access to an icon but require an additional charge based on our standard professional service rate. If you require a private icon, mention it in the description of your request or email creative@biorender.com. Fulfillment is based on production capacity.
Public icon requests
When you submit a public request, the icon will be added to our shared BioRender library and made available to all users once completed. This helps expand our visual library for the benefit of the broader scientific community.
Turnaround time
The default fulfillment time for custom icon requests is 25-30 business days. However, you may opt for an expedited 10-13 business day delivery for urgent requests.
