BioRender Graph offers the ability to change how data is formatted and displayed for analyses with one independent variable (e.g., one-way ANOVA and t-test).
By default, data is presented in the long format, where values are stacked. However, we now offer the wide format, where each level of the independent variable is displayed in its own column.
Selecting a data format
- The first time you open BioRender Graph, you will be prompted to choose your preferred format.
- By hovering over each option, you can preview how the same values are reorganized.
- Once selected, your preference will be saved and applied to all subsequent datasets with one independent variable.
Changing data format
If you need to change the data format later, follow these steps:
1. Click the Data Format button in the upper right-hand corner while in the Dataset view.
2. The format options will appear on the right side of the screen.
3. Select either:
- Long format (values stacked)
- Wide format (each independent variable level in its own column)
4. Your data will be updated to reflect your selection.
VIDEO GUIDE
The below video is available to show how you can:
- Change the data format
- Compare long vs. wide data format
- See that the graph and analysis remain identical—this change only affects how the data is displayed.
