How to troubleshoot unsaved changes

BioRender automatically saves your work every few seconds, but certain issues, like browser closures or internet interruptions, can prevent changes from saving. Thankfully, BioRender includes built-in tools to help you recover your work.

This guide walks you through how to troubleshoot saving issues and recover illustrations from your Version History.

Common reasons your work didn't save

Your illustration may not have saved due to one of the following:

  • The browser tab, window, or app was closed before the save completed
  • Your internet connection was lost or temporarily disrupted

Check your internet connection

If you're seeing an error while trying to save manually:

  1. Check your internet connection to ensure you're online.
  2. If disconnected, try resetting your router or modem.
  3. Once reconnected, return to your BioRender tab and try saving again.

From the Canvas

  1. In the editor, click File > Version History from the top menu.
  2. Browse the list of saved versions.
  3. Click Make a copy of this version.
  4. A new copy will be added to your Gallery.
