How to use personalized icon & template recommendations

The new BioRender canvas now offers personalized template and icon recommendations, designed to jumpstart your illustration process and save valuable time.

By taking your research area and recent activity into account, BioRender surfaces the most relevant templates and icons right when you need them. No more digging through endless options—just quick access to the components you’re most likely to use.

How to use personalized icon and template recommendations

Access recommended templates

  1. Navigate to the area of research field.

  2. Use the drop down menu and set your area of research.

  3. When you create a new illustration, you will land on a blank canvas.
  4. The editor automatically suggests relevant templates based on your research field.
  5. Browse the recommended templates and select the one that best fits your illustration needs.
  6. Click 'Add to Canvas' to insert the selected template.

Use recommended icons

  1. When you create a new illustration, the editor will display recommended icons based on your research.
  2. These recommendations help you quickly find relevant structures without needing to refine your search.
  3. Click an icon to add it directly to your canvas.

Not seeing icons and templates relevant to your field?

If your recommendations don’t seem tailored to your area of research, it might be because your research field hasn’t been set yet. 

Just click on “Personalize your recommendations” in the side panel and select your research area from the dropdown menu. Once updated, you’ll instantly see icons and templates that are more relevant to your work!
