Here you can find guidance on where BioRender illustrations can be published online and which plan is required for your use. Whether you're adding figures to a non-profit website, personal blog, or commercial site, the steps below outline how to find the plan best suited for your needs.
Step-by-step guide
1. Define your website use:
- Non-profit organization website for education or patient resources
- Commercial website that promotes products, services, or generates revenue
- Personal website or blog with no revenue, advertising, or promotional content
2. Check your current BioRender plan:
- Go to Account Settings in your BioRender dashboard
- Review your plan under the Subscription tab
3. Apply the correct licensing rules:
- Academic Individual Plan or higher: Non-profit organizational websites
- Industry Plan: Commercial use (company websites, marketing, or revenue-generating content).
- Basic Plan or Free Trial: Personal websites or blogs (not sponsored, monetized or promotional).
4. Upgrade if needed:
- Go to Edit Profile & Settings > Plan & Billing > Upgrade Plan and select Academic or Industry based on your website type
- If you are already on a paid plan but need to switch (e.g. you’re on an academic plan but need to upgrade to Industry), the upgrade option will not be available. Please reach out to our Support team (support@biorender.com) for assistance.
Note: For any illustration which appears online, please include include the required attribution: “Created with BioRender.com”.
