Overview: How AI credits work
AI features are powered by credits, which are consumed whenever someone uses an AI action in BioRender.
Credits help organizations:
- Track AI usage across teams
- Manage consumption over time
- Align usage with internal governance policies
One-time credits for Full-Serve users
All Full-Serve users receive a one-time grant of 50 AI credits. These credits do not expire and are available even if your organization has not purchased the AI add-on.
Shared credit pool model
AI credits are pooled at the license level, not assigned per user.
That means:
- All eligible users share from one organization-wide credit pool
- Admins don’t need to assign or manage credits user-by-user
- AI usage is tracked across your team for visibility and control
Credit expiration
Unused credits expire at the end of your subscription period.

AI add-on pricing and credit packages vary depending on your organization type and plan.

How to monitor and control AI credit usage
Admins can view AI usage and manage limits through the AI Credits dashboard.
- Open your BioRender Admin workspace.
- Select the "AI Credits" tab.
- View your total annual credit balance and used credits.
- Scroll down to the "AI Credit Usage" table to see how many credits each team member has used.
- Use the "Manage Limits" button to set per-user usage caps or reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information.

Do we get AI credits if we don’t purchase the AI add-on?
Yes. Each Full-Serve user receives a one-time allotment of 50 credits, regardless of your organization’s purchase.
Are credits assigned per user?
No. AI credits are pooled and shared across your organization.
Can I see how many credits we have remaining?
Yes. Admins can view your team’s shared balance in your organization’s billing or admin settings (location may vary depending on your plan).
Can I buy more credits if we run out?
Yes. Contact your BioRender Customer Success Manager or email support@biorender.com to request a credit top-up.
Do credits expire?
Yes. Organization credits expire at the end of your subscription period. The initial, one-time grant of 50 credits does not expire.
How do I control credit usage?
Admins can set limits so each user can access a number of credits fr om the total credit pool. Use the “Manage Limits” option in the AI Credits dashboard.
How do I track usage?
The “AI Credit Usage” table shows credits used, per-user limits, and percentage of usage across your organization.
