How to opt in or opt out of the new BioRender canvas

Please note this feature is in Beta.

BioRender now offers a redesigned canvas experience to improve how you create and organize your work. You can explore the new canvas at your own pace and switch back to the classic view whenever you’d like. Follow the steps below to move between the two canvases as needed.

How to opt into the new canvas

  1. Navigate to the banner that will appear at the bottom right of your screen and click "Try the Beta" to explore the new canvas. 

  1. Once inside, you will have the option to take a guided tour or close the tour prompt.

How to switch back to the classic canvas

  1. In the new canvas view, locate the Beta dropdown menu at the top of the page.

  1. Click the dropdown “Beta” to reveal options such as:
    • Canvas tutorial - Learn about the new interface.
    • Learn more - Quick tutorial for our new canvas
    • Send feedback – Share your thoughts on the new canvas.
    • Switch to classic canvas – Return to the previous canvas view.
  2. Select "Switch to classic canvas", and you will be taken back to the classic canvas space.

How to return to the new canvas after you’ve opted in

  1. In the classic canvas view, locate the option near the top left that says "Try new canvas".
  2. Click this option to switch back to the new canvas view.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch between the new and classic canvas multiple times?

Yes, you can switch back and forth between the classic and new canvas as often as you like for now. Just keep in mind that this option is temporary—eventually, we’ll fully transition to the new canvas, and the ability to toggle between the two will be removed.

Where can I provide feedback on the new canvas?

You can provide feedback through the Beta dropdown menu in the new canvas, under the "Send feedback" option.
