Overview of the Academic Lab subscription

BioRender’s Academic Lab Subscription is available for labs within universities, research institutes, and non-profit organizations. It offers collaborative features and allows multiple team members to work simultaneously on illustrations, streamlining scientific communication with high-quality visuals.

Note: An Academic Lab Plan can have, at the most, one Principal Investigator (PI) per five seats.

Publishing permissions and licensing

Our Academic Lab subscription includes a license to publish figures created with BioRender in*:

• Journals
• Personal websites (academic, not-for-profit)
• Grant applications
• Textbooks (less than 5 figures)

Pricing and seat management

BioRender’s Academic Lab Subscription offers flexible billing options and allows additional seats to be purchased.

• Annual Subscription: $1,188.00 USD/year for 5 seats, with each additional seat at $240.00 USD/year
• Monthly Subscription: $129.00 USD/month for 5 seats, with each additional seat at $25.00 USD/month

Seat Definition: Each “seat” is a unique user account with individual login credentials. Admins can reassign each seat once per billing year, enabling team flexibility while maintaining accountability.

• Can I pay for a lab subscription via Purchase Order?

Yes, Purchase Orders are accepted for the Annual Subscription. Begin by obtaining a quote, and upon receipt of the PO, BioRender will activate your subscription. For more information, visit our article on Purchase Orders.

• Where can I publish my illustrations on this subscription?

Figures created on this plan can be published in academic journals and not-for-profit textbooks (up to five figures), and they can be used in educational presentations, lectures, academic websites, and lab websites. For details, refer to our support resources on publishing and citations.

• How many times can members change within my team?

Yes, Admins may reassign seats as team members come and go. Each seat can be reassigned once per billing year.
