Tax-exempt institutions: steps to avoid being charged taxes

This guide will help ensure your institution’s tax-exempt status is correctly applied to your BioRender account. It is important to note that Student subscriptions cannot be tax-exempt, as they are paid out-of-pocket rather than by a tax-exempt institution.

Steps to confirm tax-exempt status

  1. Sign up for a free BioRender account
    • Ensure you’ve created an account before proceeding with the next steps.
  2. Prepare your tax exemption certificate
    • Ensure the certificate includes your institution’s tax exemption number, if applicable.
  3. Include purchase order details (if applicable)
  4. Submit your documentation
    • Email AR@biorender.com with the subject line: “Tax Exemption Certificate”, and include:
      • Your BioRender account email
      • Shipping address
      • Desired subscription type
      • Payment method [credit card or purchase order (PO)
      • Tax exemption certificate
      • Copy of the PO (if applicable)
  5. Wait for confirmation
    • Our team will notify you once your tax-exempt status is activated.

Troubleshooting tax-related issues

If you've been mistakenly charged taxes or encounter issues:

  • Double-check your submission
    Ensure all required documents were sent to AR@biorender.com with complete details.
  • Follow up with our Finance team
    If you haven't received confirmation, email AR@biorender.com with your submission details.
