Request access to illustrations with our file access request. If a collaborator shares a link you are unable to access, follow this article for an intuitive and efficient file management experience. This process not only simplifies access requests but also gives file owners and editors more control and clarity.

Requesting Access:

1. Accessing Files While Logged Out:

If you attempt to access a file link while logged out, you will encounter an updated page prompting you to either sign up if you do not have a BioRender account, or log in to view the file.

2. Request Access Page:

Once you sign up or log in, you will be directed to a Request Access page. Here, you can click "Request Access," and the page will confirm that the request has been sent.

3. Existing Access:

If you have view or editing access, you will be seamlessly directed to the file where you can edit the file as needed.

4. Approved Access:

Once your access has been approved, you will receive an email letting you know you have been invited to collaborate on a BioRender File.

You will also receive a notification in app that your request has been approved. Click on the notification to see the request.

Managing Access Requests (File Owner)

1. Notification to File Owner:

Once the request has been submitted the file owner will receive an email notification alerting them that someone has requested access to the file. The email will ask them to "Review Request."

2. In-App Notifications:

All editors who are requesting access, along with the file owner, will receive in-app notifications (accessible through the notification bell), and a new red dot on the share button within the file itself. As an owner you can click on the notification in the app to review the request.

3. Reviewing Access Requests:

Clicking on either the email, in-app notification, or the the share button, will open a new pop-up display with the access request

  • Editors can review the request and choose to either accept or deny it. They will also have the option to specify whether the individual should have view or editor access.
