To have proper permissions to publish a BioRender figure with Creative Commons licensing:

  1. You must be on a paid BioRender Plan (Academic or Industry) and

  2. You must obtain a CC-BY Permissions Form from our Support Team.

Please reach out to us at [email protected] to obtain this form and include the following details in your email:

  • The name of the manuscript

  • The title of the journal you'll be publishing in

  • The figure title as it will appear in the manuscript

  • A copy of the figure (PNG or JPEG format)

Please note that although your article may be published in a journal under CC-BY licensing, your use and sub-licensing of BioRender figures must comply with our Academic License Terms or Industry License Terms, as applicable to your subscription to a paid BioRender Plan.

Free users are subject to our Basic License Terms and are not permitted to publish BioRender figures in any publication (whether with Creative Commons licensing or not).

If approved, Academic License users may publish a BioRender figure under CC BY-NC-ND and Industry License users may publish a BioRender figure under CC BY-ND.
