What are brushes?
Brushes allow you to quickly create a line, circle or other shape made up of repeating icons without having to place them one by one. For example, you can use brushes to create:
A lipid bilayer without placing individual phospholipids
Customizable membrane shapes in a circle, arc shape, or line
Currently, brushes are available for membranes, nucleic acids, vessels, and certain cell types. We’re adding more brushes, depending on the needs of our community - so check back often for updates!
Note: only membrane brushes are available to users on our free plan. If you’re on a free plan and would like to try one of the other brush types, upgrade your account or start a free trial.
What happens to my brushes if I downgrade my plan?
When you downgrade your plan, any Premium brushes you’ve created will become “locked.” This means you can resize and move them, but you won’t be able to make further edits. This includes changing the brush type and adding or removing nodes.
On the free plan, you’ll still be able to access membrane brushes.
How do I search for brushes?
Brushes can be accessed from the icon library. You can find them from the search bar or the menu.
From the canvas, click Brushes from the left-hand menu.
Choose the brush you’d like to use and drag it onto the canvas.
Note: brushes with the crown icon are premium features.
