Uploads allow you to add JPG, PNG, and SVG images to your illustration. After you upload an image file, you can drag and drop it onto your canvas just like an icon.

You can upload a file by dragging and dropping your file onto your canvas page, or using the Uploads button. Alternatively, you can copy-paste an image from the web into BioRender.

To upload using drag and drop:

  1. Find an image on your computer that you want to add to BioRender.
  2. Click and drag the image into the BioRender canvas.
  3. Name your icon and add keywords. This will make it easier for you to find later.
  4. Click Upload. The image will be added directly to your canvas.

Note: the image will be stored in your Uploads on the left-hand menu for later use.

To upload using the upload button:

  1. Click Uploads from the left-hand menu, then click Upload Files.
  2. Find the object you’d like to add to BioRender and click Open.
  3. Name your icon and add keywords. This will make it easier for you to find later.
  4. Click Upload.
  5. Drag and drop your image to the canvas.

To copy-paste an image from the web:

  1. Right-click on the image you’d like to copy, then select Copy Image.
  2. Open the BioRender canvas.
  3. Click Ctrl + V (Mac: Cmd + V) to paste your object(s), or click Edit > Paste.
  4. Name your icon, add keywords, This will make it easier for you to search and find later.
  5. Click Upload. The object will be added directly to your canvas.

Note: Your uploads will be stored under the Uploads section on the left toolbar until you delete it.
