With BioRender's Uploads feature, you can easily add JPG, PNG, and SVG images to your illustrations. Once you've uploaded your image file, simply drag and drop it onto your canvas just like an icon. You can drag and drop your file onto the canvas or use the Uploads button. If you prefer, you can even copy and paste an image from the web directly into BioRender.

To upload using drag and drop:

  1. Simply locate the image you want to add to BioRender on your computer

  2. Click and drag it onto the canvas

  3. Your image will be added directly to your canvas!

Note: Your uploaded images will be conveniently stored in the "Uploads" section in the left-hand menu for later use.

To upload via the upload button:

  1. Click "Uploads" ⬆ on the left-hand menu, and select "Upload Files" 📁.

  2. Find the image you want to add to BioRender and click "Open".

  3. Next, rename your icon.

  4. Drag and drop your image to the canvas to complete the process.

To copy-paste an image from the web:

  1. Right-click on the image you’d like to copy, then select Copy Image.

  2. Open your BioRender canvas.

  3. Press "Ctrl + V" (Mac: "Cmd + V") to paste your image or click "Edit" then "Paste."

  4. Rename your image.

Note: Your uploaded images will be automatically saved under the 'Uploads' section on the left toolbar and will remain there until you choose to delete them
